Great news- Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026 (H.R. 7148) passes
Congress advanced the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026 (H.R. 7148), a funding package that includes provisions to extend Medicare telehealth flexibilities and in-home cardiopulmonary rehabilitation flexibilities through December 31, 2027. Next, the legislation will be sent to the president to be signed into law.
What this Means for Programs
Cardiac, intensive cardiac, and pulmonary rehabilitation (CR/ICR/PR) programs in both physician office and hospital outpatient settings can now deliver services virtually, via synchronous two-way audiovisual telecommunications technology, through December 31, 2027. This two-year extension creates a critical window for programs to implement and scale virtual and hybrid care – a powerful opportunity to improve participation rates and reach patients who have historically been unable to enroll or complete rehabilitation.
It allows programs to:
- Launch or expand hybrid CR/ICR/PR services
- Explore innovative care models that break down barriers to participation and improve access and adherence
- Plan with greater confidence while longer-term policy solutions are pursued
Hybrid delivery is a powerful tool to meet patients where they are and close long-standing gaps in access and participation.
AACVPR will be hosting a webinar for you to learn more about what this can mean for your program.
