Words from our Immediate Past President, Betty Matteson
Although I was unable to attend Friday’s Symposium events, I was with NCCRA in spirit! In spite of some major challenges, I understand things went very well. I want to thank you all for giving me the opportunity to serve as NCCRA’s President over the past year. It is a great organization and I encourage each of you to look for ways to become involved. I’d like to express my special thanks to some hard-working colleagues:
First, Ash Walker did an awesome job with this year’s Symposium and deserves a tremendous round of applause. The entire Board of Directors contributed to the event, but Ash was our quarterback. He is a big-picture thinker, always looking for ways to promote and enhance the services NCCRA provides to its membership. I know Ash will be an excellent NCCRA President in the coming year.
Stacey Greenway is a Past President of NCCRA, but there is nothing “past” about her involvement. Stacey maintains our Facebook page and is responsible for posting information on nccraonline.org. Stacey also represented NCCRA at Day on the Hill, where she was an articulate advocate for cardiac and pulmonary rehab to our Congressional representatives. As she gives generously of her time and expertise, Stacey embodies the spirit of our organization.
Last but not least, our Executive Director Butch DeBoever contributes hours and hours of his time to make NCCRA’s events and undertakings successful. As old officers rotate off the Board and new ones join, Butch is the constant that keeps the group on track. He is always in the background, gently reminding us of what we need to know. Butch is a walking encyclopedia of NCCRA’s history and he is committed to our future. We are truly fortunate to have him as part of our organization.
